The Bollschweiler Family has a long and fascinating history.
The family's known origins date back to the 16th century in the South
Baden region of Germany. All Bollschweiler family members can trace their
lineage back to one man, Georg Bollschweiler (the Elder), born in 1585.
Before the 14th century, family names were not passed
generation to generation as they are today. The first Bollschweiler
most likely came from the village of Bollschweil located south of Freiburg,
Germany and was presumably called Bollschweiler as he was from this
town.
Hanno Trurnit has written a wonderful book entitled,
"Bollschweiler: A History of a Family." Much of the information
presented on this site is taken from his research. The book was presented
to the family at the First International Bollschweiler Meeting in 2000
and was met with much excitement and interest. Also presented were two
coat of arms of Bollschweiler family and a pedigree chart that illustrated
the various branches of the family. These materials can be found in
this area of the web site and it is hoped you will find them useful
and informative.
Additionally, family genealogist, Steve Parkes, has
put many hours into the research of the Bollschweiler family and has
compiled most of the genealogical records found on this site. My personal
thanks goes to all those who have worked so hard researching the family.
This site is truly thanks to your efforts.
